An increasing percentage of transactions are shifting towards digital formats. Plastic cards are far more convenient and secure than traditional cash. However, studies have shown that this payment method tends to encourage greater spending. With virtual money, people often feel detached from the reality of their purchases, making it easier for them to part ways with their funds. To address this issue and encourage more mindful spending habits, the San Francisco-based design studio, New Deal Design, has introduced Scrip - a device aimed at promoting responsible spending by nudging consumers towards card payments.
