Earlier on our website, we discussed the topics of future clothing and footwear. Now it's time to introduce you to transformer heels. What girl doesn't dream of having shoes in her wardrobe that could replace several pairs of shoes? This dream is now a reality because students at A.R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet School have already come up with a prototype. These shoes were named "Step It Up." The uniqueness of these shoes lies in the fact that the wearer can adjust the heel height according to their preference (low, medium, or high).
Just imagine, at work you need to wear heels, but you also need to walk to get there. How convenient it would be to switch to a lower heel for the walk, instead of carrying extra shoes. In such situations, adjustable heels become an invaluable assistant.
How Did the Students Come Up with the Idea of Creating Miracle Shoes?
It's quite simple. One student named Alex Holiday got tired of wearing heels during a summer vacation with friends. The students started thinking of a solution to this problem, and the idea of creating shoes that can change heel height came to them. They took this issue very seriously. Studying biomedical engineering, model design, and other sciences led them to the discovery of a new business idea.
Who Is This Innovation Designed For?
Of course, it's designed for women, especially those with problems related to musculoskeletal issues or injuries preventing them from wearing heels for long periods. These shoes are also suitable for women who need to wear orthopedic footwear or those who need to change shoes frequently. And if you've never worn heels before, this innovation will definitely come in handy as it allows you to smoothly transition from low to high heels.
These shoes are not only convenient to use but also help save your budget because instead of buying three pairs, you can get just one. Such a product has every chance of becoming popular in our market.
Who Were the Pioneers of Transformer Heels?
In fact, the students were not the first to bring this business idea to life. Before them, siblings David Handel and Lauren from Oklahoma had been “incubating” the idea of creating miracle shoes that could adjust heel height at the wearer's discretion. They finally launched their product, named "CAMiLEON Heels," which became available in stores.
Let's Examine How They Work
The heel is connected to the shoe sole with screws, unlike regular footwear, making them particularly reliable. Inside the heel, there is a steel rod and a mechanism that prevents it from folding during walking. Additionally, they are made from high-quality leather imported from Italy, which explains the relatively high price, around $300. The heel initially stands at around 8 cm, but with a few simple adjustments, it can be transformed into a 3 cm heel. You simply push the lower part out and fold it in the middle, securing it under the insole.
Another advantage of these shoes is that the heel tips are made of durable, wear-resistant material, and the heels themselves are painted with six layers to protect them from abrasions, unlike regular shoes. And if, by chance, your heel breaks, which is unlikely according to the creators, you can purchase a replacement from the same company and have it fixed at any shoe repair shop.
The Story Behind the Establishment of the "CAMiLEON Heels" Business
The idea for a business centered around transformer heels came to David over 20 years ago. While traveling in a taxi in New York, he noticed many women wearing sneakers to work, while their high heels were tucked in their purses. At that time, transformer toys were popular among kids, including David's son. This inspired David to create versatile shoes following the same principle. However, they decided to enhance the functionality by involving his sister, Lauren, to focus on the design aspect. Thanks to her, the new shoes could combine comfort and fashion.
Despite some drawbacks, as mentioned by some customers, one of the main issues is the instability of the insole, affecting balance. Hopefully, the creators will address this issue soon.
British Version of Driving Shoes
In a world where nothing stands still, ideas also evolve. The British company "Sheilas' Wheels" released a collection called "Sheila Driving Heel" for women who drive cars. Interestingly, this company specializes in insurance, not footwear production, and ventured into creating footwear and other car accessories. Their unusual step was driven by the high number of accidents in their country due to uncomfortable footwear while driving. Surprisingly, their shoe model turned out to be more innovative than the professional American version. In the British variant, not only does the heel fold, but the entire sole profile transforms the high heels into graceful pumps, which are very comfortable for driving. The price of this footwear is around $300, just like the American version.
This business is gaining momentum rapidly, but it's not widely represented in our country. Therefore, the key is not to miss the opportunity and embrace this new business idea before someone else does it for you.
