In today's world, as we witness our environment becoming increasingly polluted due to various factors, many are considering the use of alternative energy sources. Harnessing natural energy like solar, wind, and water offers significant benefits. Projects utilizing solar energy have emerged as the most successful, as they are environmentally friendly and help conserve non-renewable resources such as gas and oil. Let's delve into the story of a Japanese town named Fujisawa, which operates entirely on solar power.
Japan, known for its advancements in technology and inventions, pioneered the concept of creating a city where residents can breathe clean air devoid of exhaust fumes and industrial pollutants. The idea was conceived by Japanese scientists, engineers, and architects.
The management of energy distribution throughout the town is handled from the central hub of Fujisawa, known as Fujisawa SST Square. This eco-friendly wonder city can accommodate around three thousand residents, with resources allocated for a thousand homes. Currently, only a small portion of future residents reside in the city. The completion of all construction and full occupancy is expected by 2018, a prospect that undoubtedly brings joy to the visionaries and creators of Fujisawa.
As mentioned, the city primarily relies on solar panels installed on rooftops to generate power. Resources are managed efficiently, allowing a 30% reduction in water consumption. Additionally, in the event of emergencies like earthquakes, electricity will continue to be supplied to homes for several days.
With residents using only eco-friendly transportation such as electric cars, scooters, and bicycles, there are no plans for gasoline stations in Fujisawa. Public transportation will not be available, so various environmentally friendly modes of transport will be available for rent to those without personal vehicles.
Furthermore, the city will be equipped with sensors and smart lighting systems that activate only when there is street movement. This innovative solution will significantly reduce energy consumption, save residents money, and contribute to improving the environment.
