Skip the Lines Store

Recently, a unique store called Amazon Go opened in Seattle, USA. You won't find traditional cashiers or long checkout lines here. All transactions are automated—simply pick your items, place them in your basket, and walk out.

How It Works

The foundation of this store is the Just Walk Out technology. It uses data from cameras and sensors to recognize who takes items, automatically deducting the cost from their account. Before entering Amazon Go, shoppers must use the Amazon mobile app and scan the QR code at the entrance. They can then select their purchases, which will be added to their online cart. Payment for all items is processed once they pass through the turnstiles at the exit. Funds are then automatically deducted from the shopper's linked Amazon account.

According to the creators, the system works reliably. If you only pick up an item to look at it and return it to the shelf, you won't be charged for it.

Currently, Amazon Go is in beta and only accessible to company employees. Additionally, security guards are stationed at the exit. The full launch is scheduled for early this year. Soon, Seattle residents and visitors will be able to buy consumer goods, vegetables, fruits, herbs, and more at Amazon Go without waiting in checkout lines or dealing with slow cashiers.
