Mechanics Making a Comeback: The Multifunctional Bracelet

Nowadays, the electronics market is flooded with a plethora of fitness trackers and smartwatches. While electronic manufacturers strive to dazzle us with the latest gadgets, the manufacturing company Leatherman Tool Group surprised us with its innovative and useful bracelet.

Founded in July 1983 by the American mechanical engineer Tim Leatherman, the company specializes in producing multifunctional tools and also dabbles in flashlight manufacturing.

Leatherman Tread is a bracelet that won't wake you up in the morning, show you the time, missed calls, or messages on your mobile device. However, with its capabilities, it can assist in far more critical situations.

The Device Concept

The bracelet consists of 11 links, each with functionality comprising 25 tools.

Components of the bracelet include:

• Wrenches (inch and metric)
• Flathead and Phillips screwdrivers
• Carbide glass breaker
• Rescue hook
• Bottle opener
• Hex drive
• SIM card pick

Each user can customize the bracelet to their liking since all the links are interchangeable and are assembled using screws that can be tightened with a regular screwdriver.

Despite being made of metal, the device is airline travel-friendly. The U.S. Transportation Security Administration approved this bracelet for travel.

It will hit the global market in the spring and be available in two variations. The first, made of stainless steel, will cost $150, while the second, featuring a carbon coating, will be priced at $200. In the fall, a model with Swiss watches that complement the bracelet's style will be introduced.
