Owning a private submarine is not a necessity, but it has become a trend among the wealthy and influential. While submarines were previously mainly for military or scientific purposes, owning and using one privately is now a lifestyle choice. Many financially able individuals prefer submarines for leisure to experience the beauty of the underwater world surrounded by exotic fish and seaweed, creating unforgettable memories.
Today, we present to you 6 of the most unusual types of private submarines.
Lovers Deep
At number 1 is the luxurious hotel, Lovers Deep, which operates as a submarine. It offers an exclusive opportunity to live hundreds of meters underwater, enjoying the incredibly beautiful and captivating underwater world.
This indulgence comes at a high cost - around $150,000 per day. For this amount, you can embark on a romantic journey for two with highly professional staff. The crew of this underwater hotel includes not only the captain and sailors but also top chefs, waiters, and butlers, ensuring your stay aboard Lovers Deep is as comfortable and carefree as possible.
Lotus Submarine
In second place is the rare Lotus car, which transforms into a real submarine. This extraordinary invention first appeared in 1977 in a James Bond film called "The Spy Who Loved Me." It turned out to be a real submarine based on the Lotus Esprit car, not just a fictional concept or a project from the near future.
This unique vehicle has no duplicates: Lotus Submarine is one of a kind. Due to its uniqueness, the machine is highly valued - in 2013, it was sold at an auction to American entrepreneur Elon Musk for almost $900,000.
Ego
For those who enjoy active sea recreation, the Ego submarine offers a blend between a real submarine and a catamaran. Due to its specific design, this underwater vehicle has significant advantages. Firstly, you can enjoy the mesmerizing views of the seas and oceans both on the water surface and below it. Secondly, powered by an electric motor, the submarine conserves energy and can last the whole day on a single battery charge.
The submarine moves at a speed of up to 8 kilometers per hour, which is quite decent for a leisurely cruise. Another advantage of Ego is its relatively affordable price - just a bit more than a car, yet significantly less than a private plane. The only drawback of the submarine is its inability to dive to great depths because a substantial part of Ego is constantly above the water level. However, this limitation does not affect your ability to explore the mysterious underwater world.
