The renowned American magazine Forbes, among the most influential financial and economic publications globally, has once again released its top 100 most innovative and progressive companies worldwide. The ranking is based on the "innovation premium," which reflects the difference between a company's actual market value and its anticipated value driven by expectations of future innovations, such as the development of new products and services and their market expansion. Annual profits and their growth compared to previous years are also considered in the evaluation.
Only companies with a market capitalization of at least $10 billion are eligible for inclusion in the ranking. Furthermore, the financial aspects of a firm must have been publicly accessible for the past seven years. Another criterion is that at least 1% of the total net assets must be allocated to further innovations and improvements.
Often, technology companies dominate the rankings. Once again, the top spot went to the globally renowned enterprise Salesforce, whose CRM system is widely used by corporations like Google, Toyota, Dell, Hitachi, and Cisco. Some companies rapidly lose their positions on the list; for instance, Apple dropped to the 79th spot, whereas it was among the top five just two years ago.
It's worth noting that 4 out of the top 5 leading companies were founded in the United States (including Salesforce.com, the pharmaceutical company Alexion Pharmaceuticals, VMWare, and the biotechnology leader Regeneron Pharmaceuticals), with one in the United Kingdom (ARM Holdings, specializing in semiconductors). The list also features several companies from France, Germany, and Japan.
Below are detailed descriptions of the top ten companies in the ranking.
