European parents have always faced pleasant but financially demanding responsibilities upon the birth of a child. One of the costly purchases typically planned even before the baby's arrival is a stroller. While in the past, the design and functionality of this essential item have seen minimal changes, the modern world has introduced a wide array of innovative stroller designs.
Like any household item, a stroller is a consumer product. Where there are consumers and products, there is also business. This article is for those looking to earn from selling items for children.
Transformable Stroller - Babyoom
Designers Jeong Haedong and Bae Jun Seong, in creating their conceptual stroller, aimed to address three common drawbacks of modern strollers: high cost, complexity, and lack of functionality.
- High cost
- Complexity
- Lack of functionality
Babyoom is a multifunctional transformable stroller that can easily convert into four useful items usually bought separately: the stroller itself, a child's bicycle, a car seat, and even a shopping cart. This means that parents essentially get four items by purchasing just one, leading to cost savings.
In the early stages of a child's life, from birth to three years old, Babyoom serves as an excellent stroller. For families with a car, the car seat issue is also resolved: the cradle detaches from the stroller, the base with the chassis folds and fits in the trunk. Convenient, isn't it?
As the child grows and no longer requires a stroller but needs a bicycle instead, the transformation of the stroller into a child's three-wheeled bike is an intriguing engineering feat. With a few simple manipulations, Babyoom, now a bike, continues to serve its little owner from the ages of three to six when the child explores the world.
During this time, Babyoom can be useful not only to the child but also to the mother when she goes shopping, easily converting into a shopping cart. Even as the child grows, Babyoom remains functional. While the necessity of the shopping cart feature may be questionable given the ubiquity of shopping carts in supermarkets today, the simple transformation mechanism and lightweight design make this stroller model very promising and appealing.
Safety Stroller - UGO
How often in movies do scenes irritate viewers where an unheld baby stroller rolls on its own next to passing cars! It may be that after watching such films, Australian designer James William Wansey came up with the smart stroller UGO.
The stroller features a modern and attractive design, but its main advantage, setting it apart from many similar strollers, is its ability to ensure the child's safety on inclined surfaces. This is made possible by special braking devices integrated into the rear wheels, which lock the wheel rotation when the stroller moves away from the parent for a certain distance.
How does it work? Quite simply. A sensor in the careless parent's pocket sends a signal to the devices on the wheels. The signal only has sufficient power up to a distance of two meters. As soon as the signal weakens, the brakes engage.
This entire system is electronic, not mechanical, so it requires power but does not need gasoline to operate as it draws energy from wheel rotation.
Smart Baby Case - Conceptual Suitcase Stroller
One might wonder if any responsible parent would "pack" their child in such a super-technological suitcase, even considering that sensors in the stroller alert the parent when the baby cries and a system that can clean the baby's bottom—it unlikely that a normal parent would entrust their child to this "miracle suitcase." But hold off on the judgments.
Designer Pouyan Mokhtarani named his invention Smart Baby Case. Surely, if he has children, he is a caring father. And here's why.
Initially, Smart Baby Case was designed as a device for parents traveling with their children. It does resemble a regular suitcase—it has a transparent cover and completely encloses the child in the cradle. But rest assured, the child will have ample breathing room. Inside the structure is an air purifier, and there is an indicator on the outside showing its status. There is also an LED screen on the cover that allows remote monitoring of the child. Additionally, there is a special button for auto-rocking in case the child cries and the mother is not around.
The "salon" of the suitcase-stroller has a comfortable and soft bed, ensuring the child's comfort. There is also an "auto-nanny" system that notifies the parent when the child needs attention and washes the infant. Even after all these modern features, if you are not inclined to purchase such a concept suitcase, you can always resort to a classic stroller.
