The concept originated in the West. In Europe and America, many people do not own homes and rent apartments from the government. This often leads to situations where items need to be transported from one place to another, not only within city limits but across the country as well. This type of business is also known as "Moving," which translates from English as "relocation." The idea is simple and does not require a large initial investment.

Target Audience

In modern times, the need for item transportation arises in several scenarios. The main target audience comprises:

  • Customers moving from old homes to new ones;
  • Office employees changing workplaces;
  • Various retail outlets requiring delivery of large goods.

There are no strict boundaries for the work conditions, allowing the utilization of existing resources for cargo delivery, not limited to moving services.

What is Needed to Start?

At the initial stage of establishing the business, a minimum requirement includes one cargo transport vehicle and movers. Ideally, one of the movers should have a driver's license and extensive driving experience. If you do not own a cargo vehicle, renting one is an option. The average service price ranges from $300 to $850, depending on the car's model, features, and year of manufacture.

Currently, the average wage for movers is around $250-$400. Initially, you can work part-time as a driver and mover or exclude the loading service. However, the latter may reduce the demand for your services.

How to Promote the Business?

First and foremost, advertising and the quality of your team are crucial. Many services in the market are performed by negligent workers who mishandle clients' belongings, leading to negative word-of-mouth. Therefore, hiring staff with a neat appearance and good manners is essential.

However, advertising plays a significant role. Consider investing in advertising banners in residential areas or promoting services on social media platforms, as they offer access to a large pool of potential customers.

Collaborating with large companies can be the most profitable. Often, you may come across job postings seeking couriers. Establishing long-term relationships with such firms can benefit both parties. Optimal results can be achieved through intercity cargo transportation. Starting your business with moderate prices for relocations is advisable to maintain a positive customer impression.

Main Types of Business Operations and Requirements

Currently, there are four main types of companies offering moving services, each varying in their work approach:

1. Family Business: Involves distributing tasks among family members to reduce labor costs but can impact the company's future growth significantly.

2. Firms Employing Additional Workers: These companies often have offices and hire less reliable staff. To stand out, personal supervision is crucial to ensure service quality.

3. Established Companies: A rare segment in the market, these firms align with European standards, utilizing reliable equipment and offering additional guarantees.

4. Advanced Stage of Development: Focuses on interstate and international relocations, adept in customs affairs and document preparation. Achieving this level of expertise expands the company significantly and generates substantial income.

Many well-known companies initially started incrementally, with family businesses expanding gradually to achieve substantial earnings.

Profitability

Today, the cost of cargo transportation services varies based on tonnage and distance traveled. For instance, transporting up to 1.5 tons of goods over 10 km in a GAZelle vehicle costs clients between $5-6.5 per hour. Therefore, one relocation can earn a minimum of $13. With these figures in mind, the business can be profitable in the first month, especially when using rented vehicles and not hiring labor.

Share this information with acquaintances who might have vehicles to offer moving services, enabling them to start a stable business with growth potential.
