The concept of producing solar panels is not new; many scientists and investors see them as a promising technology for all of humanity. Elon Musk has managed to create highly efficient solar panels by combining innovative energy technologies with effective marketing strategies.
Elon Musk is well-known for leading two star companies - SpaceX and Tesla Motors. Both of these corporations are known for their groundbreaking innovations. However, one more project that Elon is working on is SolarCity. This company produces approximately 34% of all solar panels in the United States.
A Revolution with a 2% Difference
The average solar energy absorption rate, which is then converted into electricity, ranges from 14-20% for the vast majority of solar panels produced worldwide. In 2014, Elon Musk acquired a small company (Silero) that was able to achieve an absorption rate of 22.04%, certified by the organization RETC.
As the leader of some of the largest innovative projects in the US, Elon Musk has ambitious plans - to produce over 10,000 solar panels per day. The main marketing strategy is that by increasing the power output of the solar panel, the price per watt of energy has dropped from $2.9 to $2.2. This was made possible by using n-type silicon, which is more efficient at high temperatures compared to the commonly used p-type silicon in most panels. These panels are just the first generation; scientists claim that in the near future, they will be able to reduce the cost of a complete panel by 4 times! The era of "clean" energy could be upon us in this decade. Isn't it surprising that building materials are already being made from waste?
