In essence, it's very difficult for people to let go of familiar things and beliefs. However, that is the essence of progress - everything old gradually changes to something new and better, even though many innovations are initially perceived negatively.
A typical example is Apple, which abandoned the 3.5mm headphone jack in the new iPhone. At first, many couldn't even believe it was possible, but now many smartphone manufacturers are following suit! Ultimately, it seems that the familiar headphone jack will soon become a thing of the past. Below, we will discuss other fundamental technologies and inventions that will disappear in the foreseeable future.
Traditional Door Locks
In many modern homes, offices, and hotels, electronic locks are already being used, opening with smartphones, Bluetooth keys, microchips, or bank cards. In cars, similar technologies have been used for quite some time, but currently, it only applies to doors - the engine is still started with the old-fashioned mechanical key. However, the day is not far off when this will change. For example, Volvo has already announced a technology that will completely eliminate traditional keys.
Paper Money and Credit Cards
In the vast majority of developed countries today, 80-90% of all transactions are made with electronic money. This is simply because such innovations are convenient for everyone. The government is interested in tighter control over financial transactions, bankers seek faster settlements, and ordinary people value the security of funds and payment speed.
Bank cards were a huge leap forward compared to cash. However, it seems their time is also limited. Already, in many stores, you can pay using special smartphone apps, and in some American shops, you don't even need to take out your device - the amount is automatically deducted upon exit.
Syringes and Injections
Despite their high effectiveness, intravenous injections are hardly a pleasant procedure. Fortunately, painless but equally effective methods for delivering medical drugs to a patient's bloodstream are currently being developed. It may be hard to fathom, but a device is being developed in an American institute that "shoots" medication through the skin at the speed of sound. It happens instantly, and the person feels it similar to a mosquito bite.
Electronic Passwords
On average, each of us holds about two dozen passwords in our head: for email, social media accounts, smartphones, bank cards, and more. However, in the near future, identification will be done using fingerprints. In situations requiring maximum security, retinal eye scans will be implemented.
Automobile Rearview Mirrors
Here's a simple one - mirrors will gradually be replaced by rearview cameras. In the USA, this innovation is already legislated, and all cars manufactured in 2018 will be equipped with such cameras. The proponents of this change hope (not without reason) that this will help reduce accidents since cameras have no "blind spots." Additionally, the image will be displayed on a screen in front of the driver, which is more convenient than constantly turning to look in the mirrors.
Whether we like it or not, the future is just around the corner. So, there's no need to fear innovations as they are meant to make our lives easier!
