In a previous article, we talked about three inventions that could soon become a reality, straight out of sci-fi books and movies. We covered humanoid robot androids, laser weapons, and the military necessity of an exoskeleton resembling Iron Man's suit. Today, let's delve into the realm of a fairy-tale invisibility cloak, an anti-aging drug, and even a habitable station on the Moon.
The Invisibility Cloak
Everyone remembers the bestseller by British author J.K. Rowling about the boy with magical abilities, Harry Potter. Many of us wouldn't mind having items with supernatural powers, like a magic wand or a real invisibility cloak. While the magic wand is still a distant dream, scientists are diligently working on creating the latter.
As it stands, Canadian experts have already developed a prototype of such a cloak. This invisibility cloak consists of small plates that camouflage the hidden person or object. However, the object must remain stationary for the "magic" to work. Developers promise to iron out these limitations soon and predict that the cloak will gain immense popularity in the military sectors of the USA and Canada.
An Anti-Aging Drug
Who doesn't dream of an anti-aging drug? Scientists from Harvard and the University of New South Wales are working on just that, giving us hope for the future. While this invention won't cure all diseases or grant immortality, there's a good chance that it will significantly extend human life and make the aging process less physically and mentally burdensome. Currently, researchers are conducting tests on mice, showing that the human body responds similarly to the drug.
The main task for specialists is to identify the genes responsible for the aging process and control them to slow down overall aging and the development of diseases stemming from it, particularly those affecting the skin and the gastrointestinal tract. Any progress in this field will be a monumental achievement, realizing the dream of humanity.
Habitable Station on the Moon
The insatiable human desire to explore space and even try living on other planets is a driving force behind scientific and technological advancements. Scientists are now working on developing habitable bases on Earth's only natural satellite and creating various equipment and structures to enable long-term human presence on the Moon. It's anticipated that the construction of a lunar station will be completed around the 2050s.
