A restaurant where you can taste food prepared using a 3D printer has opened in the European region of Lleida. The establishment is aptly named Food.INC, reflecting its tech-savvy approach.
Idea
This innovative food preparation and presentation method was conceptualized by the Spanish company Natural Machines. All dishes are crafted using 3D printers designed by the Dutch company byFlow. Notably, Food.INC is not the first of its kind for the company.
The first prototype of a 3D food restaurant was launched in the European town of Venlo. It featured 8 dishes prepared using the same technology. Additionally, all furniture and decor were created using 3D printers. The restaurant was so well-received that in the same year, plans were made to launch a gastronomic tour across major world capitals.
How Does It Work?
Before crafting culinary masterpieces, all ingredients are ground into a homogeneous paste that serves as the "ink" for the printer. The dishes are then digitally designed by the chef and programmed into the machine. The end result is a ready-to-eat three-dimensional product.
Today, this method can replicate chocolate, goat cheese, meat, dough, and more. Culinary experts are continually exploring new possibilities and innovations in the realm of 3D printed food.
Perspectives
The average bill at a 3D restaurant today is around $180. Despite the high price point, these establishments draw in crowds of visitors. The creators foresee further advancements in food preparation using 3D printers, possibly leading to a future where such devices become as common as regular coffee makers in households.
Don't forget to share this content with friends on social media and ask them if they would be interested in trying food made by a 3D printer.
