Website – one of the main components of an online store.
To have people buy your products, you need to at least showcase them on a platform. A website or a landing page is ideal for this purpose.
Today, we will specifically discuss a full-fledged website and explore 4 primary ways to create one - building a website with HTML, using a website builder, hiring a freelancer to create a website, and developing a website with a professional studio.
Method 1 - DIY Website Creation Using HTML.
People unfamiliar with online stores often think this is the only way, get intimidated by the amount of information to learn, and end up doing nothing.
If you also had this misconception, I have good news - you don't need to know HTML to create a website.
If you are not a programmer, don't try to become one - explore other methods.
Method 2 - Website Creation Using a Website Builder.
If you don't want to spend money on a custom website and don't know HTML, it won't stop you from creating a website on your own today.
You can use various website builders for a minimal subscription fee.
Nethouse, Wix, Setup, and many other services are ready to offer you their templates.
While a website created using a website builder may not be as visually appealing, it will cost you significantly less than a custom-made site.
Advantages of using a website builder:
- Cost-effective
- Can be done independently
- Easy to make changes
- Quick
Disadvantages:
- Lower quality compared to a custom site
- You spend your time on it
- Monthly fee involved
Method 3 - Hiring a Freelancer for Website Creation.
This involves finding someone, through acquaintances or specialized websites ( fl.com, workzilla.com), who will design and develop your site based on your requirements (often, to enhance quality, you may need to find both a designer and a developer).
If you want a quality website, you must provide a good project brief. Otherwise, no matter how skilled the professional you find, the result may not meet your expectations.
As freelancers say - no project brief means no idea.
Advantages:
- Potentially higher quality than using a website builder
- Personally, you spend less time
- Can be done relatively quickly
- Reasonably priced
Disadvantages:
- Need to find a good freelancer
- Possible significant delays in project completion
- Without a good project brief, it's challenging to achieve desired results
- Difficult to make edits
Method 4 - Website Development by a Marketing Agency.
This method is the most expensive and time-consuming, but potentially yields the best results.
A marketing agency offers a full range of services – market analysis of your niche, competitor analysis, creating a project brief, design, development, and sometimes even maintenance.
The price for quality here translates to time (no less than a month, often 2-3 months) and money (starting from $1500 and above if it’s a reputable marketing agency and not three beginners inspired by webinars trying to set up a profitable web studio).
You just need to find a good agency and fill out a brief.
Advantages:
- High quality
- Comprehensive analysis before website creation
- High conversion rate
Disadvantages:
- Time-consuming
- Expensive
- If you are in a complex niche, they may struggle to understand it
- Extremely challenging to make amendments
So, this wraps up the discussion on website creation methods. Choose the one that suits you best and start creating a site for your online store right away.
