Furniture choices can speak volumes about our personal and even professional qualities. When it comes to selecting a desk for yourself, its uniqueness is a part of your image. If you want to engage in selling desks, then the uniqueness of your product is the key to its success in the market. In any case, it is beneficial to learn about some of the most original designs of this furniture piece.
The Endless Writing Desk
Introducing the "Ideas by the Metre" desk by London designer Henry Franks. With this desk, you won't have to worry about starting from a blank page—there is a roll of clean paper measuring 45 meters attached on one side. Just turn the handle a bit, and you will have a clean creative space on your desk. Additionally, all previous sketches are saved on another roll. Much more convenient than scattered papers all over the house, don't you agree?
The Fusion of Wood and Aluminum
This furniture is crafted using a remarkable technique: molten aluminum is poured into the form where a wooden block already exists, filling all irregularities and gaps. Another special feature is the complete absence of nuts and bolts—wood and aluminum literally merge. The idea belongs to designer Hilla Shamia. Such furniture will be a striking accent in a Scandinavian minimalist interior.
The Hybrid of a Rug and Coffee Table
Love sitting on the floor? Then you have probably faced the issue of spilled tea or coffee on the rug, scattered snacks, or the magazine or book lying too low. Alessandro Isola came up with a creative solution. The edge of the rug he designed can serve as an excellent little table if flipped over. On the reverse side of this rug, there is a lacquered surface that is perfect for placing cups or laying magazines. Moreover, this invention solves the problem of efficient space usage: the table can easily be unfolded back onto the floor.
The Coffee Table for Movie Buffs
Designer Nathan Mummert ensured that true movie enthusiasts feel maximally comfortable during home movie nights. His "Caddy" table fits perfectly even in the smallest room, and thanks to its unique design, it can be placed very close to a bed or sofa. The tabletop features four slots for mobile phones or players, two cup holders, and a soft stand for a tablet or remote.
Glass Rivers, Wooden Shores
When you look at the tables by Washington designer and artist Greg Klassen, it feels like you are observing a model of a river valley relief. The glass inserts, fitted to the tiniest irregularities of wood pieces, represent the river while the annual rings seem to depict height variations. The designer sources his materials from a local sawmill, and the texture of the wood itself guides his next move. As Klassen himself says, he finds joy in combining the beauty of nature and art.
