A cozy, weatherproof, and frost-resistant home is a dream for everyone. Modern construction technologies can help achieve this goal.
Insulating walls is crucial to protect any structure, especially residential buildings, from the fluctuations of the surrounding environment. To reduce heating and electricity costs, it is essential to reconstruct load-bearing walls and make them completely impermeable to both cold and heat.
Thermal Insulation Materials
The modern construction industry produces a variety of materials for insulating exterior walls.
Expanded polystyrene (EPS), also known as Styrofoam, is a lightweight water-resistant material with a lifespan of about 30 years. It is installed on walls using mortar or adhesive, and can be cut to size with a regular knife. Due to its affordability and positive qualities, this insulator is highly popular.
Polyurethane foam is a more advanced type of EPS. It is installed in a similar manner but offers increased strength, durability, eco-friendliness, and cost-effectiveness compared to its predecessor.
Mineral wool consists of basalt and silica plates treated with a water-repellent solution. It is cost-effective and eco-friendly like EPS, and is available in various sizes and thicknesses.
Expanded clay granules are made of fired clay, providing fire resistance and temperature tolerance, and are also used for floor insulation. They are poured into the space between the wall and finishing panels, then filled with a liquid, specially prepared solution. Alternatively, they can be used for inner wall insulation by filling gaps between a metal frame and drywall. Wood chip granules, a cheaper alternative, are often used in this scenario instead of expanded clay.
Business Setup
- Creating a team of installers will require several individuals, preferably skilled professionals.
- Required construction materials can be purchased using the customers’ money, taking an advance payment beforehand.
- The insulation panel installation is done on a reinforcing mesh attached to the walls. Seams are treated with installation foam, and excess foam is removed after it dries.
Profitability
This line of business is highly sought-after and enjoys immense popularity, leading to a high level of competition. Despite the challenges, starting and developing a business in this field is feasible and advisable. The key is to approach the work responsibly, complete it on time, and maintain high quality standards.
