It's no secret that most modern entrepreneurs meticulously plan every detail before starting their own business. Numbers, calculations, capital investment assessments, and risks... However, there's another way to make good money – simply follow your passions and put a piece of your soul into your work.
This is exactly what Michael Kraugwell did – a quirky resident of the wooded area of Massachusetts city in the northeastern United States.
About the Project
Inspired by video games and fantasy movies, Michael began crafting giant-sized swords in his private forge. This hobby not only became a real passion but also a highly profitable business. One of the main marketing methods was his personal YouTube channel, where entertaining videos about the crafted swords are shared.
Initially, the products were sold on eBay – you can still find several sold items there. However, currently, Michael conducts self-managed auctions. Bids are accepted on his Facebook page or through email, with payments processed directly to his PayPal account.
And get this – he doesn't even have a website, yet he still makes a good profit! For example, a recent sword sold for $6000. Furthermore, all the work takes place in the picturesque outdoors.
Michael keeps it simple – no hired employees, no need for negotiations or building business contacts. He personally crafts amazing swords, and customers line up for them.
His favorite pastime yields commendable results, not just financially. The innovative businessman connects with interesting individuals. After all, a dull person would never consider buying a sword that mirrors the weapon of the main character from the popular Devil May Cry franchise.
This kind of business can be significantly scaled up – establishing an online store, putting production on a conveyor belt. However, our hero has no desire to conform to the norm, and he refuses to relinquish the format where he sets all the rules.
Cynics may argue that media attention boosted his business, as they adore such stories. But we have no doubt that Michael Kraugwell could find buyers even without media coverage. Besides, his first hundred thousand YouTube subscribers appeared long before the story gained mass attention.
Here he is – a true superhero businessman!
