In the age of globalization, which is rapidly spreading into various aspects of human life, particularly in the realm of business, some goods and services have become laden with unnecessary additions and even excesses that do not always satisfy customers.
A prime example of this phenomenon can be seen in modern hair salons, which are evolving into beauty salons with a multitude of services for aesthetic care. On one hand, this trend has its benefits as it allows modern women to get their hair, makeup, and nails done in one place without the need to move between specialized salons.
Despite the obvious advantages, such a concept of a hair salon has a significant drawback: for many men, a visit to such an establishment can be burdensome, as even a traditional men's haircut there takes much more time than necessary.
American entrepreneur Gordon Logan came up with a brilliant solution to this problem by creating a network of so-called "barber shops," exclusively for men. It all began in Georgetown, Texas, almost twenty years ago, when most traditional hair salons were already closed, yet there was still demand for them. Logan established a cozy barber shop where men could get a quick haircut while watching sports programs.
The barber shops gained immense success, and soon SportClips started popping up all over the United States—not only in major cities but also in small towns. Currently, the network counts approximately five hundred branches in 32 states across America and in Canada, with active collaborations in other countries as well. Many entrepreneurs from ex-Soviet countries have shown interest in acquiring a SportClips franchise. It's worth noting that opening such a barber shop through franchising is not cheap, as the fee for using the original idea and the expenses directly related to establishing the salon, according to SportClips management estimates, will cost you at least half a million dollars.
