Every driver knows that passing a semi-truck on a country road is one of the most dangerous maneuvers, often leading to terrible accidents. It's hard to stay behind a huge truck for too long, making it tempting to hit the gas pedal and overtake it. However, visibility is often poor, increasing the risk of crashing into an oncoming vehicle. Most truck drivers assist those trying to pass them by signaling when it's safe to do so. But this doesn't always happen, or else there would be far fewer accidents on rural roads.
Recently, experts from the Argentine division of the Samsung company proposed an original solution to this problem that could significantly improve road safety. This technical innovation is worth a closer look as it could serve as the foundation for a successful business idea.
Concept Proposed by Samsung
As is often the case with the unveiling of new ideas, it's surprising how no one came up with this solution earlier. A large screen made up of four displays is attached to the rear of the truck. A camera is installed near the bumper of the cabin, transmitting the current road situation. This allows the overtaking driver to see everything happening in front of the obstructed truck.
As you can see, the concept is brilliant in its simplicity. However, there may be some practical implementation challenges. Currently, such safety systems are only installed on Samsung's corporate trucks. To witness it in action on the road, you can watch the official promotional video.
There are some potential pitfalls in this idea that can be seen already:
- Firstly, it's unclear how these screens will perform in harsh weather conditions. If mud, snow, and rain obscure the display, how effective will this solution be?
- Secondly, during nighttime, the screen may shine quite brightly compared to the unlit country road. Will it blind the driver behind?
- Thirdly, the weight of four screens will undoubtedly burden the already heavy vehicle, leading to additional fuel consumption. Not every transport company will be willing to incur such extra costs.
Given Samsung's reputation, it's safe to assume that these technological issues will be successfully resolved in the final version of the innovative safety system.
Now, envision the opportunities that arise for businesses if this innovation gains traction on global roads. It opens up a whole new market segment, requiring the establishment of trade and service infrastructure. Monitoring the market penetration of this safety system may allow you to seize a leading position in the market in time, enabling you to earn a substantial capital gain. Just like those who followed the growth of the PayPal system and prospered alongside it.
Interested in hearing drivers' opinions on this safety system? Then share this article with your friends and ask them what they think about installing screens on trucks.
