The Roots of the Modern Playmobil Concept
It all began in 1876 when Andreas Brandstätter founded a company producing small toys and named it Geobra Brandstatter. The firm did not achieve great success and faced decline during the oil crisis of the seventies. It was then that the brand's founders had to come up with radically new ideas, leading to the creation of Playmobil building sets. These sets were designed to have high entertainment value without requiring significant resource investments.
In 1971, another key figure emerged in the company's history, Hans Beck, who had been working at Geobra Brandstatter since 1958 and became the "father" of the first Playmobil figure.
This patented figure was 7.5 cm tall, had flexible limbs, and was perfect for a child's hand, made of wood.
Following the first Playmobil figure, in 1974, figures of a worker, knight, and Native American were introduced.
The toy characters needed corresponding settings, so the company soon gifted them with playgrounds, vehicles, and buildings. Thus began the era of Playmobil, bringing happiness to children and aiding in their development.
Components of Success
What guided the company's leaders and figure designers to achieve global success? Firstly, the products stand out for excellent German quality, made from good plastic, ensuring that a broken toy rarely disappoints a child, a trait true with Playmobil.
The second secret of success lies in the lifelike characters equipped with elements that mimic real-life. In simple terms, the company created a unique gaming universe that children can immerse themselves in, enjoying modifying and creating with the building set's details.
With 140 toy options for children aged 3 to 13, the variety is mind-boggling. The thematic classification of figures and their accessories enhances the fun, with options like farms, fire stations, castles, supermarkets, and more at children's disposal.
All locations are complemented by details like birds, animals, household items, traffic lights, and other cute trinkets. Surprisingly, these plastic objects are quite functional: ships can float, cannons can fire, lifts and pumps can work.
And most importantly, the vast space for imagination allows the game to be endless, regularly supplemented with new details that are constantly updated. Looking to venture into the children's business sector? Embrace ideas associated with children's playhouses.
