To start a profitable business, one often needs to find new, untapped niches. One effective way to do this is by identifying common household problems that irritate a large number of people and have not yet been satisfactorily addressed. Interesting examples of such businesses can be found in major Western cities.
Recently, a group of entrepreneurs noticed a significant issue - most service providers operate only during typical working hours when the average middle-class individuals are also occupied with their daily breadwinning tasks.
- Need an electrician or a plumber? Well, they can only come during your work hours...
- Want to order something online for delivery? You'll face the same issue as couriers finish their work at the same time as you...
While most people take time off work to handle repairs or spend time shopping at round-the-clock markets when they could be relaxing, some innovative business minds have come up with original solutions to these problems.
Innovative Solutions to Household Problems
The first idea originated in London.
Sally Castle, the brain behind this idea, often had to take time off from her office job to wait for plumbers or mechanics. Each instance negatively impacted her earnings and relationship with her superiors. When she decided to start her own business, she began by addressing this problem. She introduced a service where employees can handle tasks on your behalf, such as dealing with craftsmen or receiving packages. You might wonder who needs such services? Yet, in modern London, a significant number of people find it easier to pay for the services of a "daytime caretaker" rather than risk straining their relationships with their bosses at work.
The second original solution to time conflicts was proposed by the company "Parcel" from New York.
This company acts as an intermediary in the delivery market. Found something interesting in an online store, want to buy groceries or are waiting for a package but can't receive it due to your work schedule? Simply place an order to have it delivered to the "Parcel" company's address specifying where and when you need your purchase brought to you. Nighttime delivery is available from 7 to 11 PM at a cost of just $5. Again, thousands of people prefer to pay five dollars more for their purchase rather than spend time on evening store visits.
In both cases, simple solutions to common problems led to the creation of highly profitable businesses. In our context, both approaches may be debatable - our online shopping culture isn't as advanced, and our fellow citizens may not welcome an unfamiliar person into their homes to wait for a repairman, let alone pay for it. Yet, the example of utilizing such a non-traditional approach is worth close attention. Who knows, you might identify a household problem whose solution could earn you a decent fortune. Be bold and original in generating business ideas, and success will not be far behind!
