If we look at the economic situation in the country and how it affects the citizens' standard of living, we can understand that there have been better times. Over time, fewer people can afford to buy expensive items because their prices are rising faster than wages. The price of soft furniture has reached a point where it is easier and cheaper for people to repair the old ones or craft something new themselves. From the above, we can conclude that opening a furniture workshop is relevant, and a business in this field will definitely yield the desired results.
Where to Start?
First and foremost, it is essential to find a space that can accommodate the workshop. For efficient operations, the area must be at least 30-35 square meters. It needs shelving for materials, tools, and parts. Several worktables need to be set up, along with a cutting table equipped with all necessary tools. The premises should meet the following requirements:
- Excellent lighting. Each table, especially the cutting one, should have a desk lamp with a flexible stand. The main lighting should be evenly distributed throughout the workshop. The lamp power depends on the ceiling height – the higher it is, the more powerful the lamps need to be.
- Fire prevention system. It is mandatory due to the storage of fabrics, wooden parts, and paints inside. Adhering to fire safety regulations is crucial.
- The furniture workshop needs to be well protected from moisture to prevent materials and stored furniture from damage over time.
Registration with regulatory authorities will not take much time. Initially, you need to register as a sole proprietor. No special licenses are required. After registration, you will need to advertise your workshop to attract clients. The more appealing and vibrant your advertising is, the higher the chances of attracting customers. Various methods can be utilized for advertising: newspaper ads, flyers distribution, online promotions. Expensive advertising campaigns can be considered once the workshop is operational and has regular orders.
A furniture repair business can generate good income and quickly recoup the investment (approximately within 1 year). To increase profits, you can manufacture furniture yourself and sell it at a satisfying price point for customers. The key at the beginning is to fully commit to the work. Dedication and hard work are the paths to success.
