Enjoying a good rest and experiencing exciting emotions are beneficial not only for children but also for adults. However, sometimes a simple swing in the backyard or a bike ride is not enough for such feelings. Today, there are plenty of other modern ideas that not only provide entertainment but also offer opportunities to make money. One of these ideas is the Segway, a remarkable piece of technology. The potential business areas include renting and selling these scooters.
Exploring the Segway
Imagine two large wheels and a person standing and maneuvering these wheels with a handle - it looks fantastic, doesn't it? In reality, besides the wheels, there is a platform, two rechargeable batteries, and several sensors. What makes this design unique is the absence of any control buttons or levers. To move forward, you lean forward, to go backward, lean backward, and off you go! A typical Segway weighs 45 kg and can reach speeds up to 20 km/h. But let's get back to the fact that you can also make money using this "transport."
Starting a Rental Business
You can start with just two scooters. The initial minimal investment would be around $14-15,000. Register as a Sole Proprietorship for simplified tax reporting, costing around $50. Set up a rental space (warehouse) and a location for your operations. You will need electricity in the warehouse for charging the scooters (overnight), costing about 3 cents per night. Renting a space will be around $70. Additionally, you will need to purchase helmets, invest in eye-catching banners, costing another $100.
Experts recommend working on your own initially to study the demand and client base firsthand, as well as to familiarize yourself with all the nuances (how many clients there are, when it's busy or slow, how much you could pay a hired employee, etc.). Essentially, this is all you need to open a business called "Segway Rental."
Regarding Sales
Today, Segway electric scooters enter our market through various channels: either through direct orders from other countries (usually the USA or China), but the price for new goods will be significantly higher (almost like that of a new small car), or you can buy scooters with some mileage. It's best to buy from private individuals rather than rental companies, where the mileage is likely to be much lower. To avoid risks and ensure a safe purchase, it's advisable to approach a specialized company that deals with selling this type of transport. However, there are not many companies selling such equipment yet, reaffirming the notion that Segway rental and sales are a novel, intriguing, and profitable venture.
