With virtual money, people often feel detached from the reality of their purchases, making it easier for them to part ways with their funds. To address this issue and encourage more mindful spending habits, the San Francisco-based design studio, New Deal Design, has introduced Scrip - a device aimed at promoting responsible spending by nudging consumers towards card payments.
