In recent times, more and more skilled professionals are choosing their workplaces based not only on the level of salary but also on the quality of the benefits package. One crucial aspect of this package is the number of vacation days and the timing of time-off. To identify the best companies in this industry, the website Glassdoor conducted a global survey of employees to determine the conditions provided by leading employers worldwide. The ranking below was compiled after a thorough analysis of the collected data.
1) Topping the list is the California-based biotechnology company, Amgen Inc.
Employees at Amgen receive a mandatory 21 paid calendar days off annually. Additionally, the company provides a two-week holiday break around July 4th (U.S. Independence Day) and Christmas.2) In the second spot is Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Employees at this New York-based cancer research facility are entitled to around 3 weeks of paid vacation per year, along with highly flexible weekends. According to the ranking compilers, the company achieved such high positions due to a very accommodating approach towards employees' time-off needs.3) The third position in the ranking goes to the Swedish company Ikea.
Vacation days at Ikea directly correlate with an employee's tenure. For instance, an employee with just one year of service can enjoy 21 calendar days off. Employees with over 5 years of service are entitled to 5 weeks off, and those with 10 years get 7 weeks.4) Next up is the IT giant Google.
Google's vacation calculation system closely mirrors Ikea's setup. Newcomers can expect 3 weeks of vacation per year, while employees with over 5 years of service are rewarded with 5 weeks. Moreover, each employee can take up to a three-month unpaid sabbatical, showcasing Google's generous time-off policies.
