Fortunately, there has been a steady trend recently where a healthy lifestyle is transitioning from a fashionable hobby to a norm, becoming an integral part of the worldview of an increasing number of people. Undoubtedly, a key aspect of the phenomenon known as a healthy lifestyle is sports. Therefore, if a budding entrepreneur decides to open a business related to sports today - especially if this sport is not yet mainstream - their enterprise is almost guaranteed to succeed. It is simply a matter of cleverly organizing the business. Today, we will discuss a business in the realm of a sport that has not yet fully spread in our region, like bike tourism. And, of course, we will explain how to organize it in the best possible way.
Preparing to Launch the Business
As mentioned earlier, bike tourism is not yet widespread, so before starting a business related to it, it is helpful to conduct preliminary research in your own city to see if there are competitors and the unique aspects of their offerings. If you find that someone in your area is already involved in commercial bike tourism, after analyzing their list of services, it is important to determine how you can stand out. This could include unique routes different from those already offered. For enthusiasts of extreme activities, trips to mountains or remote, unexplored areas can be organized. For those with a more moderate temperament, leisurely bike rides through forest trails, remote areas with landmarks, trips to rivers, etc., would be suitable.
It is also necessary to determine (based on your budget) what your future client can expect from you. You can not only act as a guide but also provide tourists with equipment, useful items for the trip, and food. Moreover, if finances permit, you can set up a small camp and offer temporary accommodation rentals to vacationers. It is important to calculate the cost of one trip for one vacationer, considering both the cost of additional services and excluding them. This information should be provided to each tourist in advance so that they understand what will be included in the payment for your services and what they will need to take care of themselves.
As an additional source of income in the future, when the profit allows for another working capital allocation, you can organize the sale of bicycles and gear for hiking on the campsite. By the way, as for the initial capital - the amount will be around 5-8 thousand dollars. These funds will go towards purchasing equipment and inventory (bikes, parts for them, tents, specialized clothing, sleeping bags, etc.) calculated for ten tourists - for a start. As you gain more regular clients, the quantity of equipment will need to be increased. We wish you success and exciting, unforgettable bike journeys for your clients!
