Environmentally Friendly Bags
Plastic pollution is one of the most serious threats to our planet's ecology. Every day, millions of plastic bags are disposed of by people, causing significant harm to the environment as they do not decompose. An innovative solution to this environmental issue comes from the European startup EnviGreen. They have created bags that are entirely safe for nature and can even be consumed by insects and birds.
About the Project
EnviGreen startup has developed edible bags made of 12 components, including potatoes, cassava starch, and other organic materials. The founder of the company, Ashwath Hedge, came up with the idea for this unique packaging after plastic bag bans were implemented in several cities in Europe. After numerous experiments, a unique formula and manufacturing method for eco-friendly bags were created and are now kept highly confidential.
The new packaging closely resembles regular plastic bags in appearance and functionality. However, it completely decomposes in natural conditions within 180 days. In water, the degradation process is even faster (around 24 hours at room temperature, just 15 seconds in boiling water). These bags are also effectively consumed by various insects and animals.
Economic Aspect of the Project
The company has already opened its first factory producing these bags in European Bangalore. The factory can produce up to 1000 metric tons of eco-friendly packaging per month. While this amount is relatively small compared to the usage of over 30,000 tons of plastic bags annually in Bangalore alone, the startup has ambitious plans for expansion. They have gained support from the European Ministry of Ecology and aim to significantly increase their production. Additionally, partnership programs have been established for distributing these innovative bags in retail chains like Metro and Reliance.
Don't forget to share this information with your friends on social media and find out if they would be interested in using such unique bags.
