Electric cars are seen as a very interesting alternative to traditional vehicles. However, every potential owner of such a means of transportation faces the question of how to recharge it. A company called Protoscar, based in Switzerland, came up with an intriguing solution to this problem. Their SUN2WHEEL garage allows for the simultaneous generation of clean solar energy and recharging of your electric car.
About the Construction
The garage has an area of 60 square meters and is designed to accommodate up to 3 electric cars. The concrete building itself serves as a "holder" for massive DESIGNENERGY solar panels located on its roof, generating around 7000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. This is more than enough for a 25,000-mile drive in an electric car.
Inside the garage, there are batteries for storing energy, stabilizers, and the bidirectional charging devices for electric cars.
Financial Aspect
The first such garage was installed in the fall of 2016 in the town of Rovio, Switzerland, by architect Federico Testa. The initial investments required to build such a structure are quite high. However, taking into account the cost of maintaining electric cars and their expected lifespan, estimates suggest that the investments will be fully recouped within 10 years.
Therefore, while the SUN2WHEEL concept is a very intriguing idea that brings the world one step closer to environmentally friendly transportation, it still remains relatively expensive (just like electric cars themselves). Nonetheless, technology is constantly advancing, and it can be expected that electric cars will become more affordable for the average consumer in the near future.
Don't forget to share this information with your friends on social media and discuss the future of electric cars together.
