Once, a native of cold Canada, Robert Bizo, decided to move closer to warmth in sunny Panama. However, upon arriving at the island of Colon, situated in one of the archipelagos in the middle of the ocean, he was simply amazed by the abundance of washed-up used plastic bottles on the shore. Credit to the Canadian, he didn't lose his composure and managed to turn an environmental catastrophe into a beneficial construction material.
How is a structure built from plastic bottles?
The construction method is incredibly simple. Used beverage containers are molded into special wire structures and connected together. This plastic is then placed into a steel frame. As a result, a wall for a house is ready. Following that, wiring is installed inside, and the walls are plastered and covered with a top layer of stucco. Doors, windows, and the roof are made from traditional materials.
Constructing one house requires over 10,000 plastic bottles. These structures are comparable to regular homes in every way. They offer excellent thermal and sound insulation, as well as seismic resistance. Furthermore, throughout the year, they maintain a livable temperature without the need for an air conditioner. This is a huge advantage for tropical regions.
Plans
Today, under Robert Bizo's guidance, builders have successfully completed one house made from plastic bottles. They are also nearing completion of a massive two-story mansion. In the future, there are plans to construct an entire village from this material. It will consist of approximately 100 houses, along with a store and a yoga space.
Share this material with your friends on social media and find out if they would like to live in a house made from plastic bottles.
