Students from the Samsung Institute of Art and Design showcased a groundbreaking concept at the Week of Design Innovations in Dubai. Their invention is capable of harnessing solar energy and functioning like a standard household outlet.
Technical Features of the Device
The device is currently quite low-powered, with only 1000 mAh. While this may not be sufficient for fully charging any mobile device, it is adequate for operating small household appliances such as electric razors, kettles, and more. The device is charged using a regular solar panel located on its backside, with a full charging cycle taking approximately 8 hours.
The device operates with simplicity. Just attach the device to a window where sunlight shines, and you can use it like a regular outlet, powering household appliances.
Perspectives
The primary goal of the initial prototype was to develop a stylish design, ergonomic functionality, and visual appeal for the device. Future plans involve significantly increasing the outlet's power and minimizing the time required for recharging. If all these ideas are successfully realized, the smart outlet will appeal to avid travelers, residents in remote areas without access to electricity, and individuals who care about the environment.
