Offices are where many modern individuals spend a significant amount of their time. Just like any other profession, office workers also need a healthy microclimate, a positive work environment, increased productivity, and stress relief. A great solution to these issues can be greening office spaces.
Indoor plants make the air cleaner, effectively counteract the negative effects on individuals who spend their days inside buildings. Additionally, the color green has a calming effect and can help alleviate feelings of depression.
Implementing a business idea to greenify an office won't take much time and can bring a lot of satisfaction to an entrepreneur.
To start a business greening office spaces, you need to:
- Research information about exotic plants that thrive indoors. Learn about caring for these plants.
- Obtain ready-to-plant greenery through various methods: grow seeds (seedlings) to maturity at home, or purchase the desired indoor plants from urban greenhouses (flower shops). If you are an experienced gardener with the necessary plants, you can transplant them.
- For more experience, grow indoor plants at home, learning the care required and the negative impacts of different factors on them.
- Educate yourself about plants that can thrive under artificial lighting, as well as those that grow well under direct sunlight. Suitable for artificial lighting: stonecrop, gelsina, round-leaf peperomia, dracaena marginata, dumb cane, African violets, tradescantia, clivia, and schefflera. Flourishing under natural sunlight are: jasmine, Japanese camellia, coleus, primroses, oleander, cacti, citrus plants, and ficus.
- Then, present your office greening proposal to the client. Offer your design for greening the space, advice, show photos of office plants. To find clients, advertise online, in newspapers, etc. The average cost of one plant for a client can range from five to ten dollars.
- Inform the buyer about proper care for the specific plant. Explain that it should not be placed under air conditioning, as it can be detrimental, and should not be placed in high-traffic areas if it is a large plant.
- You can not only sell planting materials but also offer services to care for office plants for an additional fee, visiting 2-3 times a week. This not only saves office workers time but also prevents plants from dying.
Distributing and regularly caring for office plants is a relatively new and promising business idea. With the right approach, marketing plan, and knowledge, it is possible to earn a respectable income from this venture. If you feel that this activity suits you, perhaps it's worth trying to pursue it. Best of luck to you!
