ew York City: The Green Oasis of the Urban Jungle
New York City rightfully holds the unofficial title of the World's Capital. What sets it apart is its ability to balance towering skyscrapers and bustling offices with vast green spaces. The iconic Central Park stands as a testament to this unique harmony, nestled in the heart of NYC, ranking among the largest urban parks globally.
It's no surprise that a groundbreaking initiative to green urban landscapes emerges from New York architects and developers like James Ramsey and Dan Barash. Enter the unprecedented Lowline project set to debut in 2020 - the world's first underground park. The experimental Lowline Lab, spanning over 400 sq. meters, already showcases around 40 rare plant species from diverse corners of our planet.
hat's truly remarkable about this project is its unique light source - the Sun! Developers have engineered a complex system of mirrors to channel sunlight into specific areas of the underground complex, ensuring plants receive ample light and necessary conditions.
s highlighted earlier, while the project's test version is operational, significant expansion is planned over the next three years. The complex's total area will exceed 5000 sq. meters, situated in Manhattan, within a disused underground tram depot dating back to the late 1940s.
This project is poised to draw even more tourists to the city, adding to the already vast numbers, while also delighting locals with this unique park addition.
Do you applaud such initiatives? If so, share these innovative green projects with your friends on social media!
