In the modern world, every aware individual is concerned about the state of our environment, and rightfully so. The ecological situation in most countries is constantly deteriorating, posing numerous problems for local residents and tourists alike. If living conditions on Earth do not change in the near future, we face an incredibly massive catastrophe that could eventually lead to the extinction of all living beings on the planet. To avert a series of global cataclysms, we must start small. Providing ecologically clean food and well-thought-out delivery of food products are bright and intriguing examples of contributing to the improvement of the environment.
The inspiration and developer of the eco-food delivery system is the Dutch company FOODLOGICA, which once encountered the challenge of finding an environmentally friendly and nature-safe way to deliver food.
The main issue was that according to European legislation, food can only be considered ecological if it has been delivered to the destination point in a manner that does not harm the environment and its condition, in addition to meeting cultivation or manufacturing conditions.
It's not enough to simply grow healthy and delicious fruits and vegetables without using harmful additives and chemicals. It is also essential to transport them in a way that does not pollute the environment. In other words, you cannot claim that food is ecologically clean if you distribute it by car, polluting the air with exhaust gases and other substances that harm the Earth's ozone layer.
In such cases, it is necessary to use a means of transport that does not require gasoline or other combustible substances. Since the production of electric vehicles has not yet reached mass scales, the ideal option for transporting and delivering wholesome and natural food is a bicycle.
FOODLOGICA came up with an even more innovative and ergonomic solution to this problem – the company's employees deliver products on freight trikes powered by solar energy. This approach accomplishes two things: firstly, food transportation does not harm the environment, and secondly, these bicycles work more efficiently than simple two-wheelers.
Another key aspect is that under such conditions, it is impossible to transport food over long distances. Therefore, FOODLOGICA utilizes the services of local farms, creating demand for their produce and improving the economic situation in the regions.
The company transports ecologically clean products to various restaurants and cafes that prioritize serving their clients only with natural food. A single cargo tricycle can transport up to 300 kg of goods, with a container volume slightly over 1 sq. m.
The only downside to such a service, as one might guess, is the cost. Delivering products from the base within a 5 km distance costs 15 euros. Therefore, if a catering establishment is not in close proximity to FOODLOGICA's warehouse, the price for food delivery alone will be quite high. Nevertheless, many residents and tourists in Amsterdam are willing to pay for this convenience, and perhaps soon the company will establish branches in other European metropolises.
